The built-in 3CX Pro wallboard: what it shows, and 5 things it can’t
Short answer. Yes — 3CX PRO, AI and SMB include a wallboard. 3CX describes it as showing calls waiting, average talk time, answered and abandoned calls and busy agents. Its limits: it needs a logged-in web client, it can’t be customised beyond queues and two text fields, it keeps no history on the board, it is a queue-level view rather than a per-agent one, and its counters can disagree with the reports unless the statistics reset is set up.
How to open the 3CX wallboard
- Log in to the 3CX web client with an extension that is a member (or manager) of the queue.
- Open the Panel (Switchboard) view.
- Choose Wallboard instead of the default view, then pick the queues to show.
3CX’s own walkthrough: How to use Wallboards.
What the built-in wallboard shows
The wallboard is included in the 3CX PRO, AI and SMB editions (3CX edition matrix, last updated 28 August 2026). 3CX describes it as showing “number of calls waiting, average talk time, the number of answered or abandoned calls, the number of busy agents” (3CX Support, July 2023; see also the 3CX blog post on the wallboard).
For a small team watching one or two queues, that is often enough — and it costs nothing extra on a PRO licence.
Five things it can’t do
1. It opens only in a logged-in web client
3CX’s own instructions: “If you’ve logged in to the Web Client, click the Panel button then select Wallboard” (3CX forum). The workaround users describe for an office TV is a dedicated extension left logged in on that screen — which means a PBX login lives on a device in the room.
2. It can’t be customised beyond queues and two text fields
3CX Support: “the Wallboard cannot be customized.” (July 2023). A Platinum partner described the options as “you can select the queues you want to see and 2 custom text fields”; the “Customisable wallboards” idea on the forum has 14 votes (December 2024).
3. It keeps no history or trends on the board
The board shows running counters, not a day you can browse or a trend line. 3CX Support: “If you want this information to be shown per day you need to set the queue statistics reset” (July 2023). History lives in the separate call reports.
4. It is a queue-level view, not a per-agent picture
On the forum, a 3CX customer on V20 put it this way: “The wallboard provides a basic view for overall company” (November 2024). If a supervisor wants to see who is talking, who is on lunch and for how long, on the same screen as the queue, the built-in board is not designed for that.
5. Its counters can disagree with the reports
In a September 2025 thread a panel showed 457 serviced calls while the report for the same period showed 1. 3CX staff explained that the panel “resets on it’s own schedule or keeps a tally of calls forever”, while the report covers a specific period (3CX forum). Set the statistics reset schedule before trusting the board against a report.
What teams do instead
There are three common routes once the built-in board is not enough:
- Reports in the 3CX web client. Queue performance, SLA and callback reports cover history, but they are reports, not a live screen. 3CX call reports.
- Grafana / data connectors. Grafana reporting and data connectors are available on PRO and AI licences from 16 simultaneous calls up (edition matrix; 3CX release notes). Powerful for history and BI; you build and host the dashboards yourself.
- A dedicated wallboard for 3CX. Several independent products read 3CX data and put it on a TV. When comparing them, ask four questions: does it need software installed on the PBX server; does it work on Hosted by 3CX; how does it count a queue callback; and is it priced per PBX or per agent.
Where Sontir fits
Sontir is one of those dedicated wallboards. A small connector reads your PBX over the standard 3CX interfaces, so nothing is installed on the phone system and it works on Hosted by 3CX. The wall opens on a smart TV from a revocable link with no login, shows every agent live, keeps 90 days of history, and counts a queue-callback wait as waiting. We do the onboarding, and it is priced by your 3CX licence size.
FAQ
Does 3CX Pro have a wallboard?
Yes. The wallboard is included in the PRO, AI and SMB editions of 3CX V20. It opens from the Panel view of the web client.
Can I show the 3CX wallboard on a TV?
Only through a logged-in web client session on the TV or the device driving it.
Does the 3CX wallboard show history?
No. It shows running counters that follow the queue statistics reset schedule. History and trends are in the 3CX call reports, or in Grafana on PRO and AI licences from 16SC.
Can I customise the 3CX wallboard?
Only the queues shown and two custom text fields. 3CX Support has stated that the wallboard cannot be customized.
